I Never Needed Anybody
She didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to say. She wanted to be invisible, just to avoid having to deal with the exhausting task of being a normal social human being.
"You sure?"
She surprised herself when she managed to respond "I'm fine," without her chattering teeth interfering too much.
At this point, people usually walked away. Her conversations with strangers never lasted more a couple of sentences, and she always found them tiring, uncomfortable and unnecesary. Everyone confused her extremely anti-social demeanor with a rude one. She couldn't blame them.
The boy, clearly ignoring what she had just said, sat next to her, took his coat off and put it around her shoulders, all of this while saying "You locked yourself out, didn't you? Jesus, you're freezing," he added after his hand brushed her arm, and she felt she wanted him to hug her.
Just him and nobody else. And when she noticed what she was doing -enjoying the contact, wanting it to never stop-, she decided it had been enough. She took the boy's coat off, turned to him, gathering all the courage she had left, which wasn't much, glad her teeth weren't chattering anymore, and said, "What are you trying to do? I said I was fine."

When he sang "It's just the second time we lost the war," while smiling at her, she wanted to kiss him. In the mouth. Like she'd never wanted to kiss anyone before. She was sure she had a shocked expression on, though, which the boy apparently found very amusing, since he started laughing. She kept staring at him, baffled, wondering what the fuck was going on, and how someone could seem to be so perfect for her. And for a moment, for a tiny little moment, she believed in fate.
"I'm guessing you listen to The Strokes too?" he asked, still smiling. She didn't want to seem like an idiot in front of him. It was suddenly important to make a good impression. She tried to recover, and lamely said "Yeah," to which he responded with a simple "Cool."
She didn't tell him The Strokes were her favorite band of all time.
