Chapter 2
"Welcome Back Students" read the big banner high above the front entrance doors. Andie walked up them steps with total confidence.
"You can do this," Andie repeated to herself.
The school had undergone a few changes, just like Andie. The four corner bathrooms had been redone, along with the office and conference room. Andie went to her locker in the sophomore hallway. There she was able to catch glimpses of her old friends-she had left her sunglasses on-without them noticing. She heard people saying things like "look at the new girl" and "she's hot." Finally Andie got to the end of the hallway where her locker stood six feet tall. She took her sunglasses off & dropped them in her purse-big and black. It made Andie feel unstoppable, which is how she wished she had actually felt right now-checked herself out in the mirror, and began walking toward the office to get her new student welcome packet.
"Andie?" asked a girl rushing toward Andie.
The girl's name was Meg. She and Andie had been friends since elementary school, but fell out of touch when Andie had left a year ago. Meg was about 5'6", with straight light blond hair. She had the build of a jock from the tireless years of running track & cross country. Meg also played basketball and softball. She was smart & involved with several of the schools clubs like student council and Spanish club.
"Meg, I didn't even see you." Andie lied. Well sort of. She thought the girl coming towards her was Meg, but it had been a year and Andie wasn't sure what to expect her old friends to look like.
"So you're back now?" asked Meg anxiously.
"Yea, well at least until my parents decide that I can't handle public school," responded Andie sarcastically.
"Did you get your schedule yet? Hopefully we have classes together," added Meg.
"Yes I did. World History, Band, Geometry, Spanish 1, C lunch, Chemistry, and English," said Andie folding her schedule back up & dropping it in her purse.
"Yay!! We have 1st hour, 4th hour, and lunch together," squealed Meg.
"I'm glad. You have no idea how hard it is coming back and not like remembering people. I left behind so many friends and I'm really worried that I'll see them
