飲み屋に務めている女性と深い仲になった。 彼女と密会するために、場末の逢引宿に入る。中は薄暗く布団が散乱しており、その一番奥に何やら起き上がって蠢くものがある。よく見ると化粧の濃い初老の女だった。「あら、いらっしゃい」と地底から響くようなしわがれ声でシナをつくって笑いかけてくる。ここに来るべきではなかったと急に後悔した。 その場を誤魔化すためにトイレに向かう。ドアを開けるとそこに又ドアがあり、そこを開けると又ドアがある。更に開けたところにトイレがあると思ったら突き当たりで、左手にドアがある。そこを開けると殆ど真っ暗な短い廊下になっていて、その先にようやくトイレがあった。途中左右に一部屋ずつあり、左側の部屋では見知らぬ男女が爛れた快楽に興じていた。その部屋は見ぬようにして過ぎれば何でもないが、それより少し奥の右側の部屋には精神を病んだ女がジッと息を潜めているのが判ってこちらの息が詰まりそうなので、一目散に駆け抜けてトイレに駆け込んだ。 トイレの中は薄暗く、明治初期の時代だった。 3畳分が高床式になっていて、真ん中の畳に穴が誂えてあった。正面には祭壇があり、写真が飾られて香が焚かれている。写真は、セピア色で、伊藤博文の顔に板垣退助のヒゲが蓄えられていた。 そこで用を足したのか、どうしたのか判然としない。 気が付くと自分と関係がある女性の勤めているバーに居た。マダムが言った。「○○ちゃんが全部話したそうよ」 彼女との関係が、妻子に知られてしまった。自分は妻子を無くしてしまった。 奈落の底に落ち呆然としていると、姿の見えないその彼女は私に叫んだ。 「一緒に落ちて」 その言葉には救いようというものがなかった。これが不倫というものかと悟った。 read more -
