Dreaming of Tatoos
"Jane......Jane" Someone was calling me from behind. It was an unfamiliar voice. I turned slightly in my spot in line because I didn't want to lose it. The coffee shop was packed today. Someone was coming up to me only I had no idea who it was.
The first thing I noticed about them was their height; they were just so bloody tall. I had to turn my face up to get a better look at them. Mosey brown hair covered their eyes. Something about the way their hair covered their eyes and then flipped up in an odd way seemed familiar to me. That's when it hit me a shock of realization. I knew who this strange tall giant was.
"Andy Baker" I said surprised. I almost had to do a double take. Andy Baker was a kid I use to hang out with in the 10th grade until he moved away. If he was still in high school then we should be graduating around the same time.
In the 10th grade every one use to call him little Andy or LA because he was so short. Even I had been taller than him but not anymore.
"Little Andy Baker" He stopped in front of me. How things have changed since the 10th grade. He bent down slightly and gave me half a hug.
"I'm not so little anymore" He laughed.
"That I see" I laughed too. He let go of me and put his hands in his pockets.
"So what brings you back into town, it's been so long" I shook my head in wonder. Two years is a long time for one of your best friends to be gone.
"Nothing much I just came back to visit, see old friends" he shrugged his huge shoulders. I smiled at him; it was really good to see him. I couldn't wait to tell Addie that he was here, all I can remember was the 3 of us being as thick as thieves back in the day.
"Well that's good; I'll have to tell Addie you were around"
"Yea, wait you still hang with Addie?" He ran a hand through his hair; I saw a glimpse of those brown eyes before they were covered again.
"Yea we share an apartment down on Joel Ave" I said it like it was no big deal. Only it was a big deal as seeing Addie and I were still in high school and had to work our butts off to pay rent but luckily her dad scored us an apartment. Her dad's best friend is our land lord so he went easy on us with the rent.
"That's cool" he nodded his head. I could tell this was leading up to something. I always remembered Andy could never just get right to the point.
"Yea" I was only three people away from getting my coffee.
"Soo is Addie still seeing what's his face?" he asked me. Clay and Andy didn't get along much not that I could remember any way. It was only because Andy saw Clay as a douche bag which he was at the time and Andy though Addie deserved better than him.
