The day that would happen, Shy would never forget the tales her mother told her all her life until she left her. Shy smiled gently at Thanatos as she stood up and walked out of the class to talk to the counselor about her having to get out of here as soon as possible.
No one knew her tale, but Thanatos knew enough of her by watching her that she was the girl that would one day rule the Underworld. Why he knew that, he did not know, but the gut feeling he got being around people that came from the Underworld, told him that she was stronger than anyone there at this time. Her strength was in her silence and the way she saw the beauty in the most saddening things in the world.
One main thing that caught his attention was that she seemed to see the angel that had comforted him when his parents had forgotten him again, for his older sister who was once more suicidal. How in the world, had this girl seen the angel, was making him nervous, for if she could see the world that most humans saw, but said it was their imagination, he was in trouble.
The bell rang, and suddenly like a gust, Shy was waiting for him at the door, her hair tousled, but her eyes were colder than the deepest and iciest gusts of the Underworld. He smiled at her, and suddenly they seemed warmer than they were a second ago, but still cold to everyone else.
As they walked, Shy heard rude remarks about herself, from the eyes and voices of girls, that seemed to want the attention of the boy that accompied her. She ignored them and knew that within herself that as soon as today was over she would leave Thanatos alone, unless she wanted attention from the others, and the attention would call the people that she did not want.
After all somewhere here in the school was a girl a year younger than Shy, but was her half-sister that did not know that her father had abondened a newly born baby when all he took was a single look at her. The girl also didn't know that Shy had the same mark on her face as the girl, except Shy's tear mark was a blood red and marred her cheek as if she had cried blood over someone.
Shy knew the truth about the world, while she knew her half-sister out there did not, she thought the world was easy, and nothing scary lurked outside of her window. Though, it wasn't easy, and scary horrid things did lurk outside of windows of everyone's homes, Shy did not care, for she knew how to care for herself.
"Do you believe in magic?" Thanatos asked Shy as they got to class, Shy's face lighting up when he said the word, 'magic'.
"I believe that there are scary horrid, and strangely beautiful things out there, and if it is magic, then yes, I do believe strongly in magic." Shy told him her face small and frail as she hid behind a dark veil of her hair, and she walked to her seat in front, in a corner by the windows, and looked out ignoring the part of her that told her she should look in the direction Thanatos was.
