Azucena was born on the night the moon bled, her hair the color of the sunset, and eyes the color of icy winds, with skin as pale as the moon when it did not bleed. Her eyes captivated others, but she loathed them for she had too much instability in her life due to her eyes.
Her father called her a demon because of them, seeing that neither of her parents nor parent's parents had the icy colored eyes. It was something that marked her fatherless, compared to the other children in her world.
"Azucena, come here darling." Her mother told her wearing her Voltuous Mask as Azucena loved to call it.
She looked at her mother gently, and nodded going towards her mother, a small tear mark shining on the child's face. For sadly, this marked her more different than the other children in the town, who had a natural hair color, not multi-colored like the sky during the twilight time. The mark was the only thing that Azucena had to remember her father by, the mark was in his family's line, all females had a small tear marking which clan they belonged to, but unlike other children, Azucena was disowned at birth.
"Darling, one day the night will bleed once more, and you will see who you really are, but until that night, behave and try your best to be who you are." Clea, Azucena's mother, told her daughter, who nodded gently and hugged Clea closer and closer, until Clea's Vultuous Mask fell off her face.
That was long ago, but the memory still burns in Azucena's mind, though now she is known as Shy Night, after all it is a way for her to give into the night. She wears the Vultuous Mask, as her everyday expression perplexing those around her, for which teenager in this town would be eternally vultuous. Though, no one knew who the girl belonged to, everyone knew that Shy Night was said to belong only to the night, and been born on the night the moon bled, the only night when children came out with unnatural hair colors, or eye colors.
Shy watched silently as the others walked into school, and she followed, but at a distance that way no one knew that she was the 'Strange Girl' or the 'Scary Girl', as many liked to call her. She was safe as long as no one really looked at her or smiled at her, for then people would see behind her Vultuous Mask, and no who she really was. The girl who got disowned not even seconds after her birth for her unnatural eyes, and hair. She laughed a laugh that scared the people around her, for it sound saddening to those who looked at her laugh aloud over nothing, other than the commotion that surround the girl.
Shy smiled lightly and walked off into her homeroom class, and started reading another book with challenging subjects that most of the teachers didn't want to touch scared of ending up with more confused students than those that understood it completely. Alas, Shy loved these challenging books that made her think of her mother, and the way her mother loved her.
