"Wish I could say that..." the girl would mutter, her voice muffled by the cloth of her ragged parka. The glazed look of half starved misery vanished from her face, replaced by a different look. Blue eyes were lost and lonely as a sailor stranded at sea, yet her face was set firm in a resolve to never give up. Than was right; she was amazing for surviving so long. And, she didn't mind the bit about being a great actress either.
The clink of porcelain on stone distracted the girl from her thoughts, reminding her to once again look pathetic. She would look at the dish placed in front of her with an expression that was a mixture of confusion and mild disgust. She thought she had smelled something off about this place but would never guess that it was because it was because there was /no meat/. Fresh, red, still quamooing meat; she did not care so much of the quality as long as at one time that it was alive. Sweets were just not her "thing". She stared balefully at the salad for a moment, before her stomach rumbled once again. There was no choice: it was either starve to death or deal with this sugary... "thing". And she chose.
A hand, begrimed with a plethora of different kinds of grunge, plunged into the bowl, picking out a handful before shoving the entirety into her mouth. She chewed it only a few times wanting to savor the flavor as little as possible before swallowing the mouthful with one gulp. She stuck out her tongue in distaste, hoping the air would purge the flavor from her mouth. Then, remembering herself and who she was supposed to be, quickly returned it and forced a semi-satisfied smile onto her face and looked over to Than.
"It's great, suh." She said with a strained voice. "Nevah tasted somethin quite so nice. Best food ever. Yum-ee" She took another forced bite, grin plastered as she chewed it noisily.
"Seems your shell is cracking." Sun said with a bemused voice, setting down the cup of tea he had just finished. "I've never seen someone who ate with so much gusto be so miserable in the process." He knew he could be acting in an overly harsh manner but he, unlike Than, only sparred his kindness for those who deserved it. And though this... girl was going to be useful to him, it did not mean he would be polite. Something about her just rubbed him the wrong way.
