In one hand Zeus held his lightening bolt, in the other the sickle he had used to end his fathers reign. He stared out from Olympus into the enormous clouds that cover the mountain top refuge, his dominion. All the other gods tried to coerce him to get some rest for the coming battle, but he refused telling them " I am the King of gods! I need no rest!" He waited till the others had had their fill of wine and pre-battle festivities and went to sleep before he moved. In a single leap he flew off of the mountain and turned into an eagle. Diving through the clouds he flew straight for a small cave in the side of the mountain. Changing into his human form just as he landed at the caves mouth. Brushing off his robes and putting the sickle onto his belt he entered the cave. The stone around the entrance glows with a strange power, as if it is alive. The glowing continues along the walls and the roof of the cave but Zeus seems to not even notice it, he is focused on his target. The walls glow brighter as he walks farther into the cave until they are the only thing providing light for him to see with. After walking what seems like a lifetime he stops in front of a boulder glowing much brighter than the rest of the stone. Using the lightening bolt he sends a bolt at the rock causing it the roll out of the way for him, leading to a medium sized stone room. A lone figure stood in the room in the center sitting under a strange dying tree.
" How could you get a tree to grow inside a mountian grandmother?" he laughed. The figure, who had been examining the tree until Zues arrived, looked over to him. It had been several years since Zues had seen his grandmother, Gaia, and she had changed much, despite her immortality and enternal youth. Her skin had turned as gray as the stone around her and her eyes which were once as green as all the forests in the world turned a murky brown." What do you want?" she growled. Zues' imprisonment of her had not helped with her dislike of her grandson. Zues looked from Gaia to the tree. "I came to ask what creatures you have sent upon me now." he said solemnly. Gaia laughed " Only if you thought Olympus endanger would you come here to seek my advice." Without looking from the tree " Yes I fear for my family is that such a amusing thing to you?" he said sharply. Gaia's laughter slowly died down. " No it is not I should not laugh but I cannot help it" she said as the laughter returned in a much stronger outburst. Zues looked at her furiously. " What do you find so funny?" He bellowed. Gaia kept laughing. Zues raised the bolt to her and fired a shaft of lightening just past her head. Her laughter stopped and a look a hate came back to her face. " What I find amusing is that I will not be the cause of your downfall."
