Prompt # 176 - "Scoffing Sun"
"Sol is a very jolly creature, the warmth of his rays are his appreciation for us when we make him happy and tell him he is our saviour and our one and only. Sol is never unhappy."
"Why not, Momma? Even you are not happy forever."
The mother laughed, "Yes, but I am not a God. Sol could become unhappy, but his tolerance is very high, he is not quick to anger. Should he reach the point of unhappiness, we will know it. The light that emanates from our God will disappear and all will become dark and cold, all life on Gaia will die and their souls will evaporate from our universe."
The little girl's mouth was agape, "When will Sol get angry?"
"Hopefully never, but that is impossible. Sol will have to become angry so as to start again somewhere else. Beware of the first signs of Sol's coming anger. It might not happen in my time, but it just might in yours, so you must be prepared for the end and you must be the one to tell those who will have forgotten the prophecies what is to come. Beware the blast of fire he will spit upon us when he scoffs."
The girl raised an eyebrow and looked confused, "Scoffs? What's 'scoffs'? That's a funny word."
The mother scoffed, "You see and hear what I did? That is a scoff, and it the first sign of Sol's irritation with his loyal subjects - us. He will scoff and the world will become very, very hot and soon after, when his anger reaches the peak, he will explode with fury and burn Gaia and all his people down."
"Do we... die?"
"Yes, we die. So you have to make sure you appease Sol with your entire being okay? Love him and be truly good in everything you do, and he will spare Gaia from its destruction. Can you do that?"
"Yes, Momma. I can be good."
