Detective Ike
Ike could feel the cold water soaking into the back of his long brown over coat and into his shirt, not that he could be any wetter. The rain cascades down from the sky blanketing the area in a grey haze, the sun desperately trying to blast its light through the thick barrier of storm clouds. The sun will stop shining it's light through the storm clouds soon, he's going to have to make a move, his hands are down, holding his gun in front of his other gun. He peaks around the side of the building down an ally way, there is a man standing there half facing Ike's direction, clutching the straps of his red backpack, his head on a swivel.
The detective watches the man. "Come on, just turn a little more." The suspect is likely armed, Detective Ike has been dealing with this city's gangs long enough to know that killing a cop isn't exactly the worst thing in the world to them, quite the contrary, most bloods would consider it an achievement. Experience, and the bullet still lodged in his chest, have made Ike cautious. A wide, black car's headlights bathe the ally in light, illuminating the suspect, Ike moves slightly, as if there were any way he could still keep watch and make himself less visible than he has already done.
The suspect approaches the passenger side of the vehicle as the window, he looks sharply over in the detectives direction, Ike ducks back behind the building, "Shit." maybe he wasn't spotted. The detective can hear the small motor of the car's window engage, hushed voices, then a struggle, then gun fire. The rain picked up. The detective peaks his head out again to see the car speed past him, Ike never liked wearing his glasses, and he never got around to getting those contacts, an action he regrets, through the low light, rain, and his limited vision he would not have been able to make out the plates. But he tried anyway only to find the car had no tags at all. The detective looked back in the direction of his suspect, the man was laying on the ground, Ike took out his phone, even though he knew after that many bullets that the suspect was gone. Ike called for an ambulance, the sound of disappointment in his voice was unmistakable.
