Detective Ike
The ambulance roared onto the scene and the two uniformed officers began taping off the area. The detective's coat started to vibrate, he reached his hand down into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone. 'The chief of police', it read. Ike didn't bother putting his name, they've changed several times. Most got in some kind of scandal, some were crooked.

He pressed a button and raised the phone to his ear.

'This is Ike.'

"I hear your lead went got himself shot and you didn't get the shooter." He had a slight country accent, but the kind one would only notice if one were from out of town. Other than that, he was just like the rest of them, in it for the power and glory, which was worse than being in it for the money as far as Ike was concerned.

'Yeah, but the shooter was a pro, it doesn't make any sense to waste that kind of talent on a low level guy like this.'

"No ID on the kid?"

'No, and it might be a couple days before anybody puts out a missing persons.'

"Tough break, get back to your office and get the paper work done. I've got another case waiting for you while you wait on that."

'Alright. But I want to check up on my informant. Make sure he didn't catch any bullets this afternoon.'
