Detective Ike

He wasn't half way done with his cigarette before the first car arrived. Lights blaring, siren screeching, tires skidding. The two uniformed officers rushed over to the detective, who flashed his badge.

"Evening gentlemen. "

They nodded in unison. The detective could tell these two had been partners running the same beat for a long time, good cops. They were about the same height, and besides little curves, pimples, and their hair color the dup was pretty indistinguishable. They even had the same mustache. The one with darker hair, the senior of the two spoke up, stepping beside the detective under the over hang, facing the body:

"Did you ID the shooter?"

'No, the rain blocked my view of his plates. He was headed north in a big, black two-door. Maybe a Cadillac.'

Ike has been a detective for nearly 9 years now, he knows the description is too vague, they'll never find the car. The subordinate officer stepped aside, speaking the details into his radio, his voice calm and robotic, clearly a student of the academy. Codes and static blur emerging from both officers' radios soon after.

"No ID on the kid either, definitely a gang banger though." Ike looked out at the body, like it could hear him.

The officer nodded, 'Drug deal gone bad?'

Ike shook his head and took a drag from his cigarette. "I don't know, I got some intel on this meeting, but from what I was told there was no deal, just a drop off."
