Chapter ooo
------------------15 years ago
"Unni, why isn’t mom and dad waking up?!" Misan, 7, continues to shake her fathers’ hand, trying to wake him up. "Appa! Appa!" Soo min, 12, the older sister of Misan, looks down at their little brother in their mothers' arm. The stench of blood reaches her nose and she glances away with tears in her eyes. She finally cries, desperate to catch her breath. Misan blankly stares at her older sister, not knowing the reason until she saw her mother and younger brother. Was it really just the two of them left in this world? She looks over to her mother and her little brother, whose face was darkened by the explosion of the bombs that hit their house. Misan reach forward and unhook the red ruby flower necklace on her mothers' neck.
"Unni, (hiccups) H-Here’s moms' necklace. We can sell this for mon-"
*Slap
Misan held the pink spot on her cheek and begins crying. Soomin quickly stuffs the necklace in her pocket and pulls Misan aside, next to her. "Stupid. This is the only necklace we have left as memory of our parents. H-How could you even think of selling it!" she quietly said as she pats Misan on the head. "This place isn’t safe anymore; we have to leave before they find us."
Find us? Who?
For hours and hours Soomin didn’t let go of her younger sisters’ hand. Both of their feet were ripped by the stones and rocks below them. The running of the river beside them as the bombs fell, crashed above their heads. Both their lives were at stake, but there was no stopping until they reached the city.
