...usually about how full of crap these writers are.
Now, I'm quite aware that so far this book is full of crap, and I'm being generous with the phrase "so far"; this entire book is full of crap, and yet, I'm able to take the moral high-ground.
Primarily because these books have no real authority. They're not revealing anything shocking, and anything worth remembering for someone you may know will just make you look like a dick. "Hey...I've got a problem" "No, I think that's entirely normal" "How do you know?" "A man said it in a book" "What man?" "A man!"

Now, we're all on the same page here (Hah! Same pa--Sorry), we all know the people who write those books know absolutely nothing. But we all know someone who's normally completely thick, but they're able to make some wise comments...One of these is not like the others.
The advice dished out in these books is...not ideal. Well, let's not beat around the bush; they're absolutely meaningless. Take for example advice that used to be a big hit on Youtube, and now people start telling miserable gits to go out and do: Give Out Free Hugs (which is where this book gets its title from), never mind that these gits are the people no-one wants to hug, and the fact that I'm really not seeing how this can help anyone. Imagine how many times people would get rejected, especially in our suspicious modern society, that could just push you over the edge. Besides - what's so special about "free" hugs? Aren't hugs always free? I've been hugged over 5 times, and I've never paid a penny! Even if you went to a prostitute, I can't imagine a hug showing up on the bill - it's like a mint in a hotel! There's one main problem that springs to mind, too; people are usually unhappy because of a lack of self-esteem or self-confidence. We're expecting these people to go around hugging strangers? That would be terrifying for them (Both the people 'giving', as it were, and the strangers) - people don't...'work right' when they're anxious, or put into stressful situations. Just imagine how badly that could turn out. No, actually - let's not do that; it's incredibly cringe-worthy, even in your mind.
