He caught sight of their reflection in the glass surrounding the various labs. She was a looker. Which only made him angrier. She brought up a memory of tenderness he thought was buried. The pompous ass. She didn't know which one pissed her off worse: the Chief or the pig-headed idiot stomping in front of her. Ro matched him stride for stride. It helped that her legs were as long as his. Her work boots only boosted her height by two inches, and with them on, she stood all of six-one. She liked her height, it came in handy when dealing with suspects.

She caught his grim reflection in the glass as they passed by the labs. His expression matched her own. So okay, he had his bad memories, well she had hers and he better keep his to himself. The last thing she needed was covering his ass cause his mind was elsewhere. Unlike him, she earned her badge the hard way, she had to double the work her fellow male partners did, just to get accepted to the 'almost all inclusive boys club' of being a detective. She did a background on everyone in the department here. She knew his last partner was a woman and that she was killed during a case where he was seriously wounded. She had her problems too. She looked at him in the glass one more time and shook her head to clear it as a small smile formed on her lips, but boy, Alex Ball was definitely eye candy.
