Chapter 39:
"Well, what's the point? I already know how this will end."
"That is the point!"
"What is?"
"'What's the point?' That is the point."
"Oh... it's one of those stupid 'the point is that there's not point'. Like the first rule is: there are no rules. One of those questions where the answers is an anti-answer."
"Nope," said one of the characters, lost in the infinite void of everything, "now you have lost it."
"I don't understand."
"Oh! There you go! Back on track! You are a quick learner!"
"You're a fool."
"And you," said that same character, with a child-like smirk dripping off the tips of his mouth, "are a beautiful soul. And I think I love you."
"Maybe that's it," the other character proclaimed, waggling his pointer finger in the air, "love!"
"And you called me the fool."
"I thought that's the point."
"What was?"
"Exactly!"
The two sat in silence appreciating the nothingness of their everything. It was all very grand. The never ending white, though smothering, was also a bit freeing. Just two characters sitting alone in a realm of unabashed creation. They were its nothing while it was there everything.
"Seems a bit cruel."
"What does?"
"All of this. It just seems like someone's playing a trick."
"Yeah... sort of lovely, no?"
"No. Well... maybe... just a bit." The character stared upwards listlessly for a moment, before a look of excitement struck her face. "I've got it!"
"And what have you got?"
"Right here," she began unceasingly clawing at the air in front of her. Then, as if to reach in to a deep hole, she stuck her arm far out in front of her and standing on the tips of her toes, tried to helplessly grasp whatever did not exist in front of her. "Give me a boost!"
"What?"
"Yes, yes, I know, but there's not time for that. Give me a boost!"
"Okay, but I do not see the point."
"Exactly!"
