The ball is in motion at this point. Momentum has built over 21 years to bring me to where I am now. I am in the business of moving and shaking, or public relations that is. I stand on a tipping point, the end of my junior year, ready to lean one way or another. And instead of looking down and deciding on a landing point, I stand with my eyes closed, listening to the breeze, and waiting for a force to tilt my universe one way or another.
You know how your mom says, "You can do anything you want."? well, this is that time and its TERRIFYING. I remember dreaming about doing homework in college, having roommates and finals. I looked forward to a bag full of indisciferable books, volumes of notes and classes so hard my hair would fall out. This was my dream, and it's here.
now I want to do something that's going to take me another step forward. however, what I want next is hard to imagine. When I close my eyes, a rush of 10 different careers assualts my imagination. I can feel my universe tipping, and I have the control to change my destiny so WHERE NOW? what's the right choice for me?
Option 1: pursue my campaign plans at the one non-profit I feel like myself, and any person would die to help (as it helps kids help themselves out of homelessness)
Option 2: chase my global web communications dream where managing social media and website design rule my life. However, the idea of sitting behind a computer for all eternity seems... not my alley. I thrive on being in charge, interpersonal communication and strategic planning.
Option 3: pursue traditional media relations/public relations. BOR-ING. I dont believe in the traditional media anymore (because we all know corporations choose the stories and angles anyways) and I'll be damned if I become a glorified secretary performing due diligence with reporters.
Option 4: pursue financial industry PR. I know NOTHING about finance. I also have a really not-right view about money... that it's not real. eek. yeah. I'd be the legally blonde of the office, but what if I'm good at it?
Just writing down my thoughts is helping. Thanks for listening.
