Still haven't made a concrete decision as to how I will be using this fantastic resource. So for now it is my diary.

Today I played soccer with my nieces and nephews, which was fantastic. It was warm all day and had been working on a project manual all morning. So I thought I would take the dog for a good long walk in the sunny sunshine. I figured I'd invite the little ones along but when I called to find out if they were interested it I was informed they were all ready on their way to the park. Fortuitous! As it turned out they stopped by my place for a toilet stop before heading to the park, so we all ended up walking across to the park together. So the whole gang, being my sister, Robyn, her daughter, our brother's daughter and two sons, Scoopy the dog and myself, walked the 2 blocks to the fantastically huge city park. Scoopy and I left to circumnavigate the park as at the others stayed to play on the aging play equipment. The park has recently had a new path laid that runs around the edge of the park (approx. 2km). The walk is pleasant enough and passes many different types of sports fields and play grounds keeping the scenery interesting. We passed a couple of other dogs, all of which were given Scoopy's incredibly over excited greetings. I also greeted me fellow walkers with the standard awkward nod and inaudible mumble. About half way around the track we came across the fenced dog park that had been put in since the last time we had visited the park (It had been a while). Scoopy was very keen, almost adamant this would be our next stop. Unfortunately there were about a hundred dogs already in the dog park, with accompanying owners, so there was a snowballs chance of me stepping into that play ground. "Next time puppy dog." So I convinced Scoops that today was not the day for making new friends, largely by physically dragging him away from the fence. The rest of the walk was uneventful as we quickly completed our circuit and found my sister and the kids. They had been sitting patiently, waiting for us to return so we could play a game of soccer. After a quick drink of water we headed over to a nearby empty soccer field, where Robyn started the kids with a simple dribbling drill. after a few drills each this quickly got boring so we decided to play a bit of every-man-for-himself soccer with me as the goalie. This turned out to be a fantastic idea, as we played this way for the rest of the afternoon. Good times.
