"Listen, I rather be classy and real then put on some perfect mask to the kingdom."
"I DO NOT PUT ON ANY MASK!"
silence.
"Okay KIDS, you guys are going to have to stay with each other for a long time weather you like it or not. Ashley show some respect to your next king and Lex please try to understand what she's going though."
"They weren't even her real parents..."
Okay that flipping tears it.
"WELL GUESS WHAT THEY DIED ON THE WAY TO THE FUNERAL OF MY REAL MOTHER WHO I WASN'T EVEN AWARE WAS MY REAL MOTHER UNTIL SHE DIED SO PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LEX, KNOW THAT YOU DON'T DESERVE UNCLE'S CROWN OR EVEN THE ABILITY TO WALK IN HIS SHADOW TILL YOU GROW SOME BALLS AND SOME DAMN COMPASSION."
silence.
I take my plate of rolls and walk out of that over glorified dining room, down the over sized stairway, towards the stables. God forbid they see me cry.
This was the second time this week shit like this happened. Lex and I are complete opposites and I honestly thought that we could have become closer, but as the days go on we just find more reasons to resent one another. He was such a momma's boy and I was basically a son to his father. I may be on the heavier side but, I'm better at fighting, riding, writing poetry (please shut up), and I always talk to people outside of the castle. But Lex, he can knit, loves staying in the castle, has the highest grades in class, cooks when no one is watching him, and I've seen him create the best war-plans known to man, hes just too scared to execute them. He's scared of everything and I'm too scared to do nothing. I realize I finished the rolls.
God the grounds around the castle are pretty. With dandelions tracing the walkway, the largest white hydrangeas, apple trees, and my favorite cherry blossom trees that shower you with the most beautiful of petals. I remember to pat myself on the back for this one.
I grab an apple for Alfred and realize I still have this damn gown on. Since I learned from prior arguments with the lovely family, I always keep another uniform hidden in the stables.
Alfred is happy to see me. He always is. I wipe of any coal stains from the night before and feed him the apple. I swear he smiles at me. Alfred is the mightiest of steeds. Though he's not the biggest in size, a speed of any other horse could never compare. He's white as snow and his mane is almost as grey as a silver tiara. I feel a connection with him. He somehow always finds me when I'm in trouble. Help my best friend is my horse.
My parents were always protective over me. They didn't place me in etiquette classes, instead they placed me in private fighting classes. They always said my life is going to be dangerous and to never trust anyone, mind you they told me this at the ripe age of nine.
