My Black Swan
I watched Black Swan two days back. Pretty excited at watching Natalie Portman in such a critically acclaimed and coveted role. I was not disappointed. Darren Aronofsky directed the cast brilliantly. Natalie was resplendent in her role as an aspiring ballerina obsessed with perfection as the new Swan Queen, Nina. Such obsession led her to a seemingly contentious rivalry with newcomer, Lili, played with equal aplomb by Mila Kunis. Nina is perfect as the White Swan, prim and virginal. Lily is apt as the Black Swan, sensual and lusty. What strikes me most is how Natalie Portman manages to convey her inner torment through her thin frame. And I could identify with the black swan that was within Nina. Sometimes, I picture the angry things I would have done if nothing's there to stop us. Sometimes, I think people are laughing at me. Sometimes, I get overly paranoid or insecure. I suppose we all have our white and black swans within us but it's really how we deal with it that leads us to or off a path of self-destruction.

But I am in awe of Natalie's performance. She shall be the Queen, on Oscar night! :)
