business men, and with his chin in his coat, they kept theirs in the morning paper. He usually liked to read the headlines, but today he couldn't care less. The paper would be there tomorrow, and there was no way of knowing if she would be there today. He turned right on to Veterans Way, and found himself standing in the exact spot he came to in his dreams. This is where he stopped. It was particularly busy this morning, with street vendors barking at customers who barked back in equal tones. Cars flew by, both left and right, while honking horns both passed and followed. In an effort to process all the commotion he lost sight of the coffee shop that was just across the street. For a moment he digressed. "Should I leave? I'm sure she isn't there, I am sure she isn't real." But, in the smallest moment, a tiny clearing showed itself to him. Henry saw across the street, through the cars and business men, through the street vendors and crowds of the insatiable and impatient, the outline of her through the window. He did not blink for fear that she in fact wasn't there, and that this, like every night that preceded this moment, was a dream. Something deep inside of him told him that this was her. He found it impossible to breathe in a concise rhythm and would jump breathes before attempting to swallow the stone that had developed in his throat. His hands trembled but he intertwined his fingers to grasp reality so to speak. After he gained control of himself he thought, "It is possible, you know? Well it certainly isn't impossible." In his only movement since he arrived at the spot that was known so well to him, he moved one foot forward. Henry looked down as if to follow the tracings of his footsteps. After all, they had become second nature. He continued the meticulous motions across the street, eventually finding himself standing infront of the coffee shop door. The handle jutted out towards his abdomen and as he slowly reached for it, it seemed to get farther and farther away. Henry, holding his breathe, and without a single thought passing through his mind, unclasped his hand and wrapped his fingers around the handle. Time stopped. For this moment, this tiny insignificant moment, that had not crossed the mind of any passerbys on the streets just a few feet away from him, he felt in control of his own reality. The thoughts slowly came back, but the normality of his breathing became even more irregular. With the thought of this all being a dream echoing in the back of his mind, he pulled open the door, and closed his eyes. The bell atop the door rang out as it always did, and the warm blast of air fell upon his face. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes, and cracked a smile as the breathing came back to him. He glanced up at the bell and chuckled to himself, "I am as inevitable as the sun, and I would eventually find my way in.
