Have you ever been jelous? Of course you have. We've all known that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach when you know someone or something that you should have or be hanging out with is with someone else.
In my case, the said person that I should be hanging out with would be Madaline J. Tucker. My FORMER best friend. Notice how the 'former' is emphisised.
It's all because of HIM; him being Caden B. Luis. She met him barely even a year ago and now he thinks he's her best friend who knows everything about her. Seemingly oblivious to the fact that that position has already been filled.
Of course Maddy tries to comfort her original best friend (The original best friend being me) by treating her specially, but really, when it boils down to it, it doesnt help any. She never tells Caden to back off, even though she knows her real best friend feels threatened. Even though her real best friend tells her that she get weird vibes off of this Caden fellow, and that she should distance herself from him. Just a little.
That's something Maddy never does, even though she says she will. She never tells them to back off, and if she does they already know she doesnt have the backbone to hold them to it. But her real best friend loves her anyway and keeps her mouth shut on the matter, for the most part anyway.
Why don't I just tell Caden to back off myself? You may ask. Well, to be honest, the guy seems rather unstable. Also, he's the kind of person to make you feel guilty for being defencive toward him. It's sickening really.
Thus, I am reduced to watching the slow and painful process of being replaced by a boy who doesnt deserve to be Maddy's new best friend. Though Maddy doesnt know it yet, I know that soon she'll leave me for him. I can tell.
Another thing Maddy knows, is that Caden will eventually take advantage of her, even if it doesnt seem like it and it isnt right away.
I, Jenna Harking, can do nothing but be there for her regardless, while hoping and praying for the best.
