The earthquake hit with tremendous force
Buildings shook and foundations strained
The people inside them were nervous
and the ones who survived
cried
the atmosphere burned
with ashes and with grit
the oceans curdled
and its aggressions
the oceans threw
on the landmasses strikes and blows
the surfers in the water didn’t come home today
the waters and the shaking
it didn’t seem to stop coming
the earth shook today
and the houses in the middle of the largest landmasses
were all safe
