All day I was wondering why I came back to New York and didn't stay in Jersey for a few more days and encourage the others to do the same. It's not like we couldn't use the break. Three and a half days isn't enough time to get to know thirty people. Well, now I'm back in tiny little Center Moriches, a nowhere town that no one's ever heard of. I wonder how different things would have been if I lived in a big town with a big school with more than a hundred-something people per grade. I guess soon I'll have something like that, yeah? College is a paltry four months away. Probably double-major in biology and psychology, hopefully I can hack it. Not sure about a minor, but I definitely want to study Spanish and be fluent by graduation. There are too many beautiful Spanish-speaking women that shouldn't be separated by the language barrier. Portuguese-speaking, too, but one step at a time. Hopefully Keith and I can get a Rotaract chapter going in the fall with the help of the Pat-Med Rotary. Mrs. Graf is getting the email of the incoming club president, and it's not like they'd hate the idea. On Thursday Soo said that a girl from the Port Jeff Interact got a full ride to St. Joe's too, I'll see if I can get her interested in the idea. It would be great if Keith and I could go down to next year's district conference in Arlington as Rotaract representatives. Enough about the future, let's focus on the present now. I think I'll take Mike up on that offer to go to Corey's Battle of the Bands. If nothing else there'll be good music and I'll be able to get some good pictures/videos. Corey will be so embarrassed when he finds out I recorded them playing, but hey, that's how you get out there. Speaking of, that article about being uncomfortable promoting growth is the most true thing I've ever read, bar none. Things are going to make me squirm in college; I need to let it happen and not shy away from it all because I don't like it. Perfect example is all the speaking gigs I've had this year: Interact president, NHS induction, NEHS keynote address. A year or two ago I wouldn't have been able to do any of that, and much as I hate to admit it, somewhere between the backhanded insults and bad jokes, Tozzi did impart some good knowledge in public speaking class. So ends my first page of this project, see you tomorrow.
