When the teacher told the boy, whose name was Adrian, to sit next to her, she felt strangely excited and overjoyed about it. She wondered to herself why. She saw him looking at her with a range of emotions; awe, sadness, and happiness. She wished she could know him better, this boy who saved her life.
Adrian stared her as he sat down next to her, just noticing that she was soaked through her clothes, and he wanted even more then ever to hold her close to his heart to warm her, to see her smile and be happy forever. He knew that what he was thinking was probably ludicrous but, he wanted to, he honestly did. Adrian was pondering to himself what he should say to her. Should he just say hi to her, or what?
She noticed Adrian kept staring at her, and it made her feel slightly self-conscious and nervous at the same time. Did he still think her 'beautiful' when she was drenched and sad looking? She thought, 'Probably not. It was most likely a fluke. It was a joke when he said it. He just wanted to mess with my emotions.' But part of her didn't believe that. She wanted to believe the opposite, but it was probably foolish to do so. She felt like sobbing even more as she thought this.
Adrian continued to stare at her, and realized she probably didn't remember him. He wasn't very memorable. He was just like the wind, it comes and goes, no one remembering after what had happened. He looked down to his desk, feeling sad himself, that someone as beautiful as her would remember someone as boring as him. Adrian glanced at her again and she was looking at him with those cat-like eyes. He felt like they were looking inside his soul and his breath left his lungs.
She kept looking at him also, and saw him look down with sadness in his eyes. She thought to herself, 'Why is he sad?' She suddenly thought that he was a beautiful boy, in his own way. She liked the way his hair curled perfectly over his ear, and how his eyes had sparkled like magic when he had first looked at her when coming into the room. She then realized, maybe, just maybe Adrian could be important to me, for once in my life, to have someone really care about me, really love me and understand me.
Adrian stopped looking at her under his bangs when the class started. When role was called, he found out her name was Alina. He thought her name to be beautiful and he smiled. He now new her name and was really excited to talk to her, but then his brow furrowed and realized he didn't know what he could possibly say.
