There isn't much else to living than just pressing through each day. All it takes is getting up out of bed, allowing yourself to breathe and just putting one foot in front of the other until you found your way back home. Its not hard to live, not at all. What is hard, is enjoying it. Its not the meaning of life that people search for, we already know that, its to be happy. We're all pushing and pulling and yanking on each other just for some sliver of happiness, a cut of the cheese block if you will. The problem is that we haven't figured out how to get there, and the reason is that everyone is trying to tell us a different way until we've taken a little from the bum on the corner by the liquor store, some from that prissy lady in the grocery store and a bit from that kid who was content to play with bubbles. We take advice from the magazines, the T.V and the books; we listen to whatever new, upcoming, god filled preacher man on the television set says. He looks happy right? With his goofy grin and big white teeth, his big glinting happy eyes staring up at you from the cover of his latest book (its only been a few months since the last one) and you think : he looks happy. Maybe he's got the answer: The fact is though, he doesn't. Nobody does. We've all got answers to everyone else's problems, but none for ourselves.
Sometimes I fear that I'm not as sexually charged as I should be for my age, I figure that something is wrong with me. I'm told that I'm "ugly" or a "waste of time." I'm told that I should try believing in God or at least something greater than myself, maybe then I'll be happy. I'm told that I need a new wardrobe and that will make me happy. I should shave, nobody likes a beard; I should grow a beard because it will make me feel more manly and confident. I should try new things, ride the bus instead of driving, I should talk to someone new, I should smile more often. It will make you happier. You should read this new book, you should go to church, you should rent this movie because this guy really knows what its about. You should try yoga, or exercise, you should quit smoking, you should, you should, you should...SHUT UP!
