"Me?!"
"Of course. You are always so careful, so caring of Kiri . . . I'm sure you'll be able to keep her safe." He smiled at Maona, then at Kiri. It was the stiff-muscled grin he used to settle arguments. If iron could smile, it would look like that.
"But, but, but--"
"Well then. Good luck you two."
Reality blinked. And the island was gone.
"I don't want to leave the island!" finished Moana, the last word stretched to breaking point as a sob tried to escape his chest.
"Huh," Kiri said, taking a look around. "So this is the world?"
He sniffled.
"This is all your fault! Why couldn't you just be good . . ."
"Not really what I expected."
"You weren't even hungry . . . why did you have to go and be so dumb?"
"I thought it would be more like . . . a really big island. With really big trees. Or something."
"I wanna go ho-o-ome!"
"Oh my goodness Moana! Will you just shush? For one moment?"
"Leave me alone!"
"Fine!"
Kiri turned on her heel, stomping away. But not that far away, because she soon reached the wall.
"The world really isn't that big, is it?"
Moana looked up from his moaning and saw that, indeed, the world seemed to be comprised of one small, grey room.
"So can we go home?"
"Ahem."
"What?"
"What?"
"Did you just--"
