"No, no, of course not. Give us a moment," Moana said, putting a hand on Kiri's shoulder.
"But it's not fair! He said a riddle, not a guessing game."
"True, but it's not like we have any way to enforce the rules as it is. We'll just have to wing it . . ."
"Hey! Mister mouth!"
"You have your answer?"
"No, I want three guesses."
"It is traditional," added Moana, nodding sagely.
"Well . . . all right. If it's tradition."
"Okay, so how about Rumplestiltskin?"
"What kind of a name is that?"
"Well?"
"No."
"My turn," interrupted Moana, "How about Brutus?"
"No."
"Ted. It's Ted, isn't it."
"N- what? How the hell did you know?"
"I dunno. Wild guess?"
"You wasted our last chance on a wild guess?!" Moana shouted.
"It was right, wasn't it?"
Moana struck his forehead against the heel of his hand.
"Well?" Kiri turned towards the door again. "You've gotta let us through now."
"Fine. Go ahead. It's not like I care if I'm stuck here another hundred years. It's all the same to me . . ."
Ted fell to muttering as the door began to click, tapping and ticking like a clock gone mad. Together, Kiri and Moana took a few steps back. As they did, the door bulged alarmingly, bowing outwards as if ready to explode. Moana glanced at Kiri, grey-blue eyes shadowed with concern.
