"There shall be Eternal summer in the grateful heart. Celia Thaxter"
"What the devil could that mean? I mean, the face value is obvious; have a grateful heart and you'll always have the golden time of year. But what exactly is the Eternal summer? And what about people who don't like summer? And must you be grateful every moment of every day or can you just be mostly grateful? Is it humanly possible to be grateful every moment of every day?" She sipped her tea.
"This is ridiculous. I am not going to ponder such things just because it was written on my tea tag! It's tea. I'm supposed to be unwinding not twisting my brain through questions I'll never be able to answer." She neatly tore the tag and disposed of it. She settled back in her chair but her mind kept twisting.
"How do monks do it? It must take ages of practice to discipline you mind so that your thoughts are empty. I am always thinking. I even think about not thinking. I could never be a monk. It's a good thing that's not my job. Or religion. Or life style. Though I bet they live very uncomplicated lives. But sometimes I like my complications. I like the twists and turns and u-turns and almost complete unpredictable and yet so much the same-ness of life. I could never be a monk. Or like, a telepathic person. I mean, I've got all my thoughts, imagine how crazy I'd be if I had everyone elses! Can telepaths force their thoughts on other people? I bet there's a movie like that out. I should find it. That would be pretty scary. Of course, charismatic people have forced their thoughts on other people all over history. Not always charismatic, sometimes brutally violent people. Now that I think about it, other peoples thoughts are being pushed on us all the time every day. And dictators were brutally cruel and usually charismatic too. I mean, unless they were born in to it they had to rise to their power which means they had to charm and manipulate and get people to like them. Like that dude, machivalli or whatever his name is. Love is better, but I don't mind if it's fear instead. Or something like that. They sure have the weirdest quotes on their tea. I wish I had time to read more. I'd like to be able to know where these quotes are from. They sure are interesting. I wonder why Eternal is capitalized. Is it a place? A thing? An idea? Oh, that's a pretty thought. The idea of Eternal summer. I feel like summer should be capitalized too. I really should look this up. Oh shoot! Look at the time. Who am I talking to? My tea cup? Does it matter? I'm late!
