Yeah, I picked up that she wasn't from around her. Her voice rolled her 'R's and 'A's differently to me. Also her 'ou' in country was spoken differently, more elegant and sexualised.
It brought chills down my back.
"Cool." I replied finely. Lame it was, I was actually proud of myself. I was terrible in social situations, especially around girls. I never knew what to say, how to say certain things and never knew what not to do.
"Get this sheet signed by all the head teacher's of her subjects - indicated on the paper here - and then return it back to me." I nodded as I picked up the clipboard, "Have a good day." He waved us away and returned back to the year 7's who stared at us until we closed the door behind us.
I looked at her subject list. Biology, Visual Arts, Drama, Advanced English, Chemistry and Ancient History.
Four out of the six subjects were what I had, not only that, she was also in my room for all them. Is that why Mr Clyde chose me to lead her around? I nibbled on my tongue to keep from saying anything stupid.
"You don't say much do you?"
"Wha?" I replied ever-so eloquently.
"What you've said so far all seems to be monosyllabic, do you not like to talk, or have I in some way offended you?" Her eyes stared into me, glowing a blue like the centre of a flame.
"No... I ah... I'm not good... with social situations and... yeah." I cleared my throat out of nervousness as we turned right to walk up the stairs towards the top level of the school.
"Oh, don't worry about it, there's little you can say to offend me if that's what you're afraid of."
