To say that the principal engineer was incompetent would have been an understatement.He did not understand the workings of the equipment that was under his jurisdiction and with the rate at which the technology was changing he was unlikely to ever understand it . Not that he wanted to put in the effort.

Because he was coasting along on the successes of his subordinates he only made friends with those employees that would let him take praise for their work and ideas or those who were innovative in covering up his incompetence. As a result he created dissent in his team because he always rewarded his allies.

He had gotten the position because his uncle was the Operations manager and was bowing to pressure to further the clan members. This uncle was nicknamed "godfather" by the subordinates. The "godfather" micromanaged the team and thus the team enjoyed several succeeses during his tenure despite him. When he was transferred the team fell apart .

The principal did not know the job roles of his team and many fearing that there was no career growth resigned. The few he remained with were overloaded and inadvertly ended up exposing that he was in over his head .And that his how the principal found his end.
