I was reading a blog when I stumbled upon One Page Per Day. I thought, why not give this one a try? It's only one page per day anyway. You might wonder why am I thinking this. It's because I'm the type of person who knows how to write, wants to write, but have no time for it (or excuses so as not to write as often).
You see, when I was young, I was exposed to literature. I read a lot of books and wrote some articles. I joined a school organ and was a feature writer and newspaper writer then. I became an editor and my writing skills flourished even more.
So what happened?
It was my second year in high school when I was introduced to this new world: Computers. I was fascinated by what they can do, amazed by how fast they 'think', and impressed with the results they give. This started my 'transition'. From writing, I focused my time learning more about computers and technology.
I finished my high school with a decision already in mind; I will pursue a career in Information Technology.
I made a lot of sacrifices in order to pursue IT. I gave up my post as the editor of our school's newspaper when I was in college in order to give more time to my major subjects.
When I graduated, I said I'll work as a programmer/developer. Unfortunately, I was not able to land a job in the IT industry immediately. I ended up working as a Technical Support Representative for an Accounting software. I talked to customers and help them with their issues or questions regarding that Accounting software. I was glad that because of my skills in writing, I didn't have a hard time communicating with my customers in English.
After 2 years, I resigned from my post as a TSR to try to land a job on the IT industry. A few months later, I was hired as a software developer.
I'm happy that everything happened for a reason. I have the best of both worlds. I have writing skills, English skills, and some IT know-how. Right now, it's my dream of becoming a tech blogger. Hopefully after 2 more years. :D
