Her arms around me felt strong. I could feel her muscle, she was tense at first. I shifted so that I was facing her. Evelyn looked back at me with her dark blue eyes. I touched her face, my dark skin standing out on her pale face. She parted her lips and breathed in. Breathed out. I wound my arms around her neck. I leaned in. We pressed our lips together, light and hesitant. I pulled away. She had not reacted.
I panicked. She did not let go of me but was looking down. Thoughts of doubt raced across my mind. What if I had just ruined everything. What if she didn't want me? Was I about to be thrown off this balcony.
Evelyn looked back up and her mouth met mine again, this time we moth moved.
