Just a few days ago, she thought that all those freaks who were predicting the end of the world were out of there minds.
Just because some Mayan calendar ended on December 21,2012 didn't mean anything. She had especially felt great when December 21 came and went without the destruction of mankind. Just another beautiful day in Denver.
So the celebration was on. Credit cards were the only option for this particular Christmas. Uncle Sam had those commercials about " Keep America Moving"; Basically, the only way we would survive as a country would be to invest.. SPEND!! So since mankind had not ended on 12-22-2112, she had cut loose. Nothing but the best. A real American would do anything to save our beloved country. If she could show how patriotic she was by spending money ...get on with it. She was willing to give it her all.
On Christmas Eve 2012, Yellowstone erupted. That wasn't even much of a big big of a suprise. Good God!Guysers...volcanos...DUH??
By Christmas morning, the west coast of California was about gone. Somehow, the center of North America was gaining altitude, while at the same time the Pacific ring was creating new volcanic islands. So she had continued to deliver the mail for another six weeks....thinking that the government would work all the financial shit out. Maybe, make more money?.. something. Good thing she had good credit. But then all the Banks were closed. All the money was gone.
All the money??? She didn't quite get how exactly that worked, but no one had any or could apparently get any. Even though that was all that she had thought about, for what felt now like years, it was not to be found.
So now those government checks she had depended on for the last 14 years were nothing more than worthless pieces of paper. She had to laugh at the irony of her last
occupation. Her past occupation.. She had been so meticulous about the delivery of the mail she had been charged with. Always feeling like those envelopes were special. Urgent documents, to be treated with the utmost of care. Total respect. It was hard to believe that it was gone. Never to come back. Wow.....how fast things can change.
Kind of like she was now feeling. Totally respected.
Actually, as she thought about it,
