Monday
He walked out of the dark into the sun filled light of the street, his eyes straining as took a deep breath of the hot afternoon air and began the short stroll home. The coolness of the characters portrayed in the movie he'd just seen filled him with a false confidence as he imagined himself in their ultra cool world. His immersion so complete he failed to see the car as he crossed the road...

The man swerved radically to miss the pedestrian his heart racing as he tried to regain control of both himself and speeding vehicle. The thought of slowing down crossed his mind but his urgency to get home got the better of him. He needed to get in and out quickly before anyone got home. His mind so preoccupied he failed to see the cop parked silently beside the road...

He woke with a start, catching a glimpse of the speeding vehicle as it flew out of view. Giving chase never crossed his mind, he'd been on the job for 25 years and had long ago learnt how to get by with the minimum amount of effort. He closed his eyes again and slowly let the sleep take back over. The sound of a radio station slowly talking him to sleep...

'It's a gorgeous Monday afternoon out there, I hope your enjoying it.' The radio announcer told his listeners. Even though he know they were out there somewhere he still couldn't shake the feeling that no one was listening. 'Here's a song to take you out to the news...'

'There must be some way out of here,' said the joker to the thief
'There’s too much confusion, I can’t get no relief...'
