Update #1:
I've set out to make some of these ideas a reality, but first a preface should be made. Recently I saw a TED talk over at Lifehacker.com about the likelihood of completing one's goals (read/view it below). It basically brought up a few studies which concluded that if one hopes to achieve a goal they are less likely to do so if they tell someone about it. Apparently by talking about a goal or plan or aspiration our minds are tricked into thinking we've already made headway when our friends/colleagues affirm our idea. Bad news for productivity! With this recent knowledge I hope to be careful with my ideas and only actually tell others if I've already made significant progress.
Idea #1
As is such, I will start by pursuing Idea #1 at GVSU. My plan is to make a sign, perhaps some in my Artists Small Group can help design it, and set a paycheck aside. I'll go to the bank and withdraw the check in $1 bills (if they'll let me). Back on campus I've got friends who have photography skills, so I'll set the sign up and wait for people to ask what's going on. When they do I'll tell them they can have $1 if they smile and let my friend take their picture. My hypothesis is that not only will I get the joy of seeing someone else smiling (it's such a good feeling), but in the future when I see them again they will smile instinctively at me. I plan on doing this in a few weeks to see what happens, so until then this idea will simmer.
Idea #3
Beyond that I started scouring the internet to see if I could find a suitable domain for a TAG like game. Most domains are already taken, and I even tried gat.com! *Sigh* That idea will be harder. I especially don't know how the rules would be enforced during that game. It would be nice to trust people to fairly play it, but there are those out there looking to ruin other people's fun. Sad, I know.
Others
I haven't thrown a single water balloon since high school, which was 5 years ago. Perhaps this could become incorporated somehow. Do people still like water balloons? I like to think they do.
