The release of pain from her heart let out like a fright train whistling and exiting a tunnel. It was evident that she had moved on. The glow in her face, the bounce in her step, put a sign above her head that read: Single. She was single and ready to mingle, the past behind her, never to return.
Sitting on the beach, she reads through the sappy summer love stories of Nicholas Sparks, creating the image of her perfect man in her head.
"This," she thought "is not impossible to find! He is out there!"
But then again, where? He could be in Asia, mingling along the Yellow River in those chinese wood sandals and preaching the Gospel. He could be paddling down the Nile River with a team of scientists or in a corner office in Times Square taking an important business call. He could be wearing a sly smile on his face and a fancy suit, about to convict a man guilty of murder. Maybe, just maybe, he was a small business owner in a small rural town beckoning her to come and live there.....start over. But what were the chances of meeting the perfect guy in a small town? Hollywood, of course, depicted that situation perfectly. Girl from big city comes to small town and finds the perfect guy and lives happily ever after. Blah, blah, blah. How could she be so sure to just drop everything and go? What about her job, financial income, the dough that keeps on rolling? Her friends and family, what would they think? They only way to find out, she concluded, was to just do it. Scour the internet for the perfect town, pack up her things, quit her job - or ask for a two week vacation- and go. This would be the start to a new chapter in her life, new ink on a new piece of paper, white out over the old sentences. Anything but planning was to be done, everything would just be on the go. If that meant buying a small house till she found one more suitable for her, then it was meant to be. If that meant taking a waitressing job until she found a publishing job, then it was meant to be. Whatever happens, it happens for a reason. This thinking, this carefree lifestyle, how reckless and interesting for those of a principled lifestyle! Go to an expensive college, graduate, go to graduate school, graduate again, cry in the massive piles of debt you've obtained, move to a big city, and take a low paying job. Why follow the mainstream? Why be so principled? Just go with the flow, let the wind guide you in the right direction - or maybe wrong direction. With every opportunity comes experience and with every experience comes new aspects of life. When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade.
