He was all she had ever wanted since the moment she sang with him, aside from fame and success. She loved him, and he loved her too, although it took him a long time to realize it. When he told her, though, he felt as though a huge weight was lifted off of his chest. They had come a long way since then, since sophomore year. It was the beginning of senior year. The first step on the journey into the rest of their lives...hopefully together. Rachel was everything to Finn, and all he wanted was her, for the rest of his days. He wanted to be with her and to be able to sing with her until the day he died. His emotions had developed and changed so much since he first met her. Then, he thought she was just another weird theatre freak who was actually sort of pretty. Now, she was his life. He skipped football practices, family gatherings, and other events just to be with her. And if he couldn't avoid them, he'd bring her along, if only just to be able to look at her. He would give up anything for her.
She felt the same about him. She was head over heels in love, just as he was...but she was the one who wasn't letting it get in the way of her career. She felt beyond guilty for ditching Finn and putting him as a lower priority compared to her path to stardom. She was fully aware that it wasn't fair to him, but this was her dream. Of course, she had always wanted to be loved and to love, but in her eyes, her career and success in that aspect of life was much more important. She wanted to feel as though Finn held an even more dear place in her heart...but she couldn't. She tried and tried, but it always came down to her own wants and needs. It was senior year, and that was a scary, exciting thought. her dreams were about to come true. She was so close to stepping into her new life. But there was the one final puzzle piece that needed to be fitted in somehow. And that puzzle piece was Finn. She just...didn't know how to make it work.
Everything each of them had worked for all their lives was coming down to this. This was the final year of their high school lives. The year in which to say their goodbyes, say their hellos, make new friends, lose old ones, fall in love, set the foundation for their lives... Glee Club would soon be over. They would have to pass the torch to the new, younger versions of themselves- the New Directions.
