forbidden love
The first time I saw him, I had the feeling and I knew that we were soul mates. My heart beat was different from any other. The sweat formed in places it never had before and when he first spoke to me, I stood there like an idiot and was at a lost for words. Yes, this is how I felt when I first met my new boss.
Where I work, we always get a new boss. My old boss happened to be off having a baby and the staff was so shorthanded they brought in a "temporary" replacment. We knew it wasn't temporary but every bit of information is held in like gold around there.
Benjamin Michaels was a man that most women would consider cliche. His eyes so deep blue they look like the ocean. Golden hair that fell just right and a crooked smile that make one weak in the knees. Normally I would not fall for a man with looks like this but when I saw him, I knew that he was my soul mate and I knew I was in trouble. A lot of trouble.
"Hello, I am Benjamin Michaels. I will be helping you out for the next few weeks." He said this in a honey filled voice. As if he really was happy that he was going to be there for the next few weeks helping out. I stared at him and was saved when a page came over the PA for me "THANK GOD!!" I thought to myself. I smiled my best smile and said "please excuse me" and went to answer the page. He smiled that knockout smile again and said "no problem, I look forward to talking to you again."
I answered the page, cursing the stupidity of some of my co-workers. I went back to what I was doing, slightly dissapointed that Mr. Michaels was not there but also relieved that I didn't have to look like an idiot again. I continued putting products away and thinking to myself when I found myself thinking about him. I'm not sure why I couldn't stop thinking about him. I'm not much into blonde hair. I know that your soul mate doesn't have to be exactly what you would picture. Most women picture tall, dark and handsome. I on the other hand have never had that fantasy. I always pictured my husband being a blue-eyed, dark-haired guy that was athletic to the point where he was healthy. My husband was not any of this except the dark hair. Oh yes, did I mention I was already married? Surprise. This is why this was such a problem.
As I was thinking to myself, these confusing thoughts, Mr. Michaels saunders back over and catches me off guard.
"Hello again!" He said way too cheerfully.
I jump out of my skin and then decide I want to go crawl in a hole. "Hi" I say very quietly.
"So what is your name? You know, since we were rudely interuppted" He smiles that smile again.
"Olivia..Olivia Engle." I smile at him and his face turns red, or did I imagine that. Hmm, I don't think so.
"Well Olivia, it is so nice to meet you and I look forward to working with you. I hear you are the assistant manager and the hardest worker of all." He winks at me and laughs.
I chuckle and say " well I"m not sure who told you that but everyone in my department works very hard and we always strive to be the best. I hope you feel the same. If so, I feel we could be a great team" At this time my department manager comes over and starts talking to him. He keeps looking at me, as if he would rather be talking to me. As if he would want to get to know me better. As if, he wanted me. No, I am imagining it. I look at my watch and realize it is time to go home *angels sing* and I gather my things and walk out the door, trying not to pass out from how quickly my heart was beating.
