blurred, but she could see the beautiful sunshine through the window. She smiled. "I'm ali-" but she stopped. Who was her donor? They said there were no donors in the region for the past few weeks. For some reason she vaguely remembers overhearing a conversation subconciously. She remembers sobs, but laughter.
"Nurse!" Alexa called out as loud as she could into the hallway of the hospital. A young woman came jogging in. She had on pink scrubs with red and baby blue flowers along the bottom lining. "Yes? Is there somehting matter, Miss?" the nurse asked politely. Alexa shook her head with a kind smile and replied, "Oh no, nurse. I was just wondering who the donor was. The doctors said there were none in the area." The nurse smiled sadly. She touched Alexa's hand on the linen sheets. "There was a young man who committed suicide a couple of nights ago. His mother and father rushed him in the hospital, but they were too late." The nurse voice lowered for the last part of the statement. "His license showed that he was an organ donor, luckily, and his parents agreed to donate his heart to you. They said you were such a sweet young woman." Alexa sat up dumbfounded. "They knew me?" she asked the nurse, who now seemed very short as she sat up. The nurse nodded with grave sadness. There was a note for you left by the donor; his parents left it on the dresser by the window," the nurse exlained while bringing both their gazes towards the small wooden table. Sure enough there was a folded piece of paper laying directly under the sun's rays. "Nurse, can you bring it to me if it's not too much trouble?" The nurse nodded and placed it in Alexa's shakey hands. Hesitantly she opened it. There was a clump in her throat and she almost began to cry before reading what was written.
"I promised you my life and I gave you my heart. My love is with you.
I love you forever,
Stephen"
