Elshabet's mitri often told Zuri how much safer they felt now they had Zuri with them. But sometimes Elshabet would see Zuri forgetting to eat, or going for a walk in the woods and returning days later, and it made her think that maybe he also needed them.
"Get up, lazy goat," Elshabet giggled. "We have an adventure ahead of us."
"Oh?" Zuri quirked a single brow - a favorite trick of his - and deftly lifted Elshabet over his shoulder. "Does this adventure involve flying?"
"Zuri, stop it," Elshabet laughed, half-punching his back. "Or I'll tell Mitri you've been sleeping on the job."
"All right, all right." Pushing a dark curl from his eyes. Elshabet again giggled, seeing his normally lovely hair full of dust and straw, the latter sticking out at all angles like some sort of peasant's halo. Zuri removed a piece and regarded it with interest before speaking. "So an adventure, then?"
Elshabet's stomach growled loudly. "Firstly," she fondly patted the dark skin between her vest and skirt, "we should make a heroic journey to the kitchens. We certainly can't adventure on an empty stomach."
Zuri nodded solemnly, his crinkling eyes betraying his amusement. "Aye, Betta."
