Only the Hardness of Heart
I watched his boots clunk their way towards me, very slowly. " You've never given me a reason to hurt you lover..." my abusive boyfriend mused. I curled in a ball, feeling my body ache where he struck me. "Why do you insist on being so unappreciative?" he asked, suddenly gripping my hair tightly. I remained silent, his alcohol tinged breath lightly hitting my face, making me want to gag. "Answer me..." I turned my face away from him in disgust. "Dammit *Nairi, I'm talking to you!" he screamed, twining his hand in my curls and pulling me up by my hair.
The pain was like a shock, going from my head to toes. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I held them back afraid he would do more to hurt me. "If you would just do as I say, there would be no problems between us. Just me and you with no conflict." I swallowed hard and finally got up enough nerve to speak. "Only If I could believe you" I said, protecting my stomach and chest from further assault. The look he gave me after that radiated anger, causing me to tremble. "You calling me a lier?" he slurred, pulling me close to his face using my hair still. "Gavril Please, it hurts!", I whimpered, kneeing him in the groin.
Gavril let me go, doubled over in pain. The opportunity for escape was clear as day. I took it. I ran for the door, sloppily grabbing my coat. I was ready to run barefoot in the snow to escape him. Before i could have the slightest hint of hope, i felt a pain in my back. Then I was falling, unable to move because of a heavy weight dragging me down. "If you leave me, I'll make sure noone will want you" he said. The pain in my back grew more intense, spreading up my spine, trailing off at the top of my shoulder. "You will be so scarred, you will look like a flesh road map"
I cried from the pain, not giving up on leaving. Gavril finally finished mutilating my back after I was on the verge of unconsciousness.
He turned me over and held my face to look at him. "I will hunt you down and destroy everything you love, even if it means killing you" said Gavril.
The last thing I saw was his evil amber coloered eyes and black sweat tinged hair....then nothingness.
All an image that will haunt me for the rest of my life...
