to do with, and as a result would spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how to compensate for that. Whether it was through a water break, a trip to the restroom, or counting ceiling tiles, those 47 seconds would have to get used somehow, and it would need to be exactly 47 seconds or the rest of their lives would be off by just that much.
Toby knew he had 62 minutes to get ready for school. He only needed 20, but he left the other 42 on just in case. 3 of those 42 went toward clearing his place and the fourth setting from the table. Toby knew life couldn’t be planned, therefore he always made room for it to come and go as it pleased. The Blanck household never had much room for anything that was not accounted for, unless you counted the fourth bedroom. Three family members, four bedrooms. Ask anyone in the neighborhood and they’ll tell you it’s been turned into a spare; that is, except for Toby, who claims it is still used and at one point they had even been a room short.
The Blanck household had an unwelcome guest, and Toby would never forgive his parents for allowing it to live there.
