She wandered around, wondering where she was and why she was here. She looked up. The sky glittered with emeralds and diamonds. She smiled as she stretched her hands towards the sky. She clenched her hands trying to pick the diamonds from the sky. Her face twisted in frustration. She felt it within her reach. Her heart rattled in its cage and she gasped as everything turned red. Then darkness enveloped around her in comfort.
She scratched her arm, feeling a slight burn. She opened in her eyes. She stared into her surrounding.
"Where..." she started. Her throat tingled. She let out a cough and stirred onto her back. Diamonds hung above her and glittered in a warm glow. She stared at it, puzzled. She reached out to touch. The crystals danced as her fingers went through them. They tinkled in a secret melody. She smiled.
"Are you feeling better?"
She snapped her head to the voice. She groaned in pain and felt her neck. It was coarse and stung. he came and knelt by her side and reached for the back of her neck. He brushed her hair and peered at the wound.
She felt his breath on her neck. Warm and confident. She watched him from the corner of her eye, watching his neck stretch to look at hers. Tiny lines ran up his neck, protruding and beating ever so slightly. She resisted the temptation to trace her fingers along the lines and find where it started.
He caught her eye and she found herself turning away. He gave a sly smirk and sat on the floor beside her.
"It's a graze," he said looking at her. His eyes twinkled against the dim glow from the fireplace. She couldn't understand the colour of his eyes. She thought it would be one colour and when the fire swayed gently, it gave off a different colour. She looked around the room instead, noting the architectural carvings on the dark wooden walls. The fire made the shadows dance around carvings creating the oddest yet amusing characters on the walls. She saw people dancing and laughing as if at a dinner party. Her face dropped when she saw the characters turn around and ran across the walls in fear. She gasped and turned towards the fire. Some say fire is as sinister as it provides comfort and security. She felt its warmth against her face and watched as the flames licked and leaped in the fireplace.
"Are you alright?" he asked. She turned to the voice. He was concerned. His forehead creased and his eyes squinted in curiosity.
"You're in the family room," he explained. "Remember?"
