Once there were two teenagers. They'd both been hurt by loved ones in the past, and after being friends themselves for a while, soon found solace in one another. They were happy, for a time, the spent every waking moment together that they could. They were in love, for a time. After a while, things began to slow down, the euphoria that comes with a new relationship was ending. They were no longer as happy as they were, but they were content, and they were still in love. Unfortunately, the boy wanted to get back to that euphoria, wanted to feel his heart beat quicken whenever he saw his love. So, he began seeing other girls behind his love's back. At first, she pretended not to notice when he spent his weekends with other girls, when he stopped calling to tell her goodnight, when he casually brushed her off when she mentioned they weren't spending enough time together. She pretended everything was still perfect. Eventually, even the boy realized he couldn't just keep cheating, he asked the girl round-about questions about maybe switching to an open relationship, about if there were any guys or girls she'd want to be with. There weren't, she only loved him and didn't need to chase euphoria. So he dumped her. Over Skype. He was then seen with a new girl the next day. And his first girl, his alleged love, died inside. She started cutting herself off from her friends and family, stopped eating, sometimes, she'd even stop breathing just to feel the pain of actually being on the brink of death. However, she never went any further that that. She put on a mask, tried to resume the life she had before, her family and friends were supportive, but she knew that inside, she was and old woman operating a semblance of life. Sometimes, the old woman would take a deep breath, and peer out the window, and the old, happy, euphoric girl, would shine through, just for a moment. It never lasted long, each day the mask became more and more what people saw, the old woman retreating farther and farther back in to the cavernous void that love had left in her soul. She went on like this for some time, each day getting worse and worse, each day, the mask getting stronger and stronger, it developed its own tastes, made its own decisions with or without the approval of the old woman. Eventually, even the old her saw what she was becoming, living in hopelessness for years and years was not enough to save her from her past, and one day, one quiet, ordinary day, she died.
