How Everything Came to Be:

The reports of an, apparently imminent, fourth world war from the pundits and the populars lead to the fracturing of moderation in all its forms. When faced with destitution, the already increasingly different people resorted to what they felt to be the most logical course of action. To some this meant to fight for their beliefs, afraid that they would be defeated from lack of inaction. To others this meant using the last of their resources to find peace somewhere else. Indeed, these seem like the basic instincts of any human being. The base action of fight or flight is wired in us, but, there was a third group. A group that saw immense profit to be had. A group that sought power not for fear of being wiped out but for an inner determination to become better .

They did not fear the results of their endeavors nor did the fear the costs. They were the future seekers and the viewed those who scrambled to preserve their past, to preserve their humanity. Yet, they understood their usefulness and they used their nostalgia, their passion to further their own goals with calm satisfaction. They thought themselves farseeing and had prepared for this fracture. And so, they silently swept in, encouraging confidence in their charges. They fully expected the demise of Earth and by the time fire erupted on the continents of the doomed planet, they were watching with the amusement and wonder of a child watching fireworks. Yet, this story is not of how Earth came to this point, nor is it really the story of these young power seekers. Rather it is the story of how power can corrupt even love.
