This morning with Michael was rough, he is only 3. He usually gets up extra early, wet and has mommy change his pants and then they have "couch snuggles" until a more reasonable hour... Say 6:30 or so. Well, this morning mommy had to leave early for her marketing group meeting and Michael slept late and missed "couch snuggles." He came in carrying his Aerosmith Book and Linny (from Wonderpets) looking for mommy but she was long gone. He put his head down and started crying and yelling, "I want mommy NOW!" And occatinaly, "Mommy said I CAN have couch snuggles!" I had a mix of feelings. I was sad for him that he missed his regular mommy time. I was frustrated that he wouldn't have couch snuggles with daddy. And after 10 minutes of yelling I was pissed that he wouldn't shut up.
I told him if he was going to yell then I was going to leave the room and would appreciate him staying there. Well, that changed his attitude immediately. Suddenly couch snuggles with daddy wasn't so bad sounding. We changed his pants and got set up on the couch for what I though was going to be another hour of sleep. I was wrong. He had his Aerosmith Lyrics Book and was ready to sing. So we sang songs until I needed to get my day started, about an hour. He watched Curious George and Peep until it was time to get dressed for preschool.
Not every Wednesday is like this but generally I am a single parent when mommy has to leave early for BNI, a court appearance or just to get work done. Sometimes I resent her for it, especially when Michael has missed her. But mostly I enjoy those mornings even with the yelling. It challenges me to be a better parent and find new ways to get through the tough times.
On a different topic... We have some leaves bagged up and are storing the bags on the back steps under the roof so they don't get soaked and fall apart. They are tan and off to the side so we can open the door and go out. I sometimes catch them out of the corner of my and think they are actually Einstein (my well loved and missed dog) waiting to come back in after a few minutes outside. It is amazing how he stays in my head in so many different ways.

Well, this morning went much smoother but mommy was home until 7:30. Michael and I cuddled for about an hour while mommy got ready for work. When it was time for me to get up he got up with me and was happy and ready to go. He went straight to singing and watching Curious George while I showered. Not much else to report today.
