His arms wrap around mine and I push my head farther into his big chest. My father's short whiskers prickle on my forehead and I creep a hand up to gently touch them. I can feel a thrum between us as we stay embraced, warmth being shared, calm peace the only thing on our minds. We savor the presence of each other. I clutch him tighter for a moment, and then lean back and look over his shoulder at my mother.
She is gazing at my father with a look of bitter longing, not moving save for small, quick breaths. I know that she still loves him but tries to tell herself that she doesn't, in order to make her fault excusable. She does not believe herself though, and I am glad. I give a sigh of relief, and smile when my mother's eyes spark as they turn to me.
I slowly unfold myself from my father and reach out to her. There is a silent sweetness and time seems to hold still for the briefest of moments as we grasp each other. I lean down and kiss her cheek softly. She grins and I know she is remembering past times when I used to give her a great buss in my silly way.
But those were past times, and every second is now coming and going, going and gone. I step away from them, my heart quaking. I am moving now and as they get farther away my parents move closer together. They are awkward together, but I see a silver string between them, connecting them. Then they are even farther in the distance, and I cannot see very well.
I look forward and there is nothing but light... no, something purer than light.
And then, quite suddenly, I am in front of the greatest of Love.
And I love that Love for all of eternity.
