"where we're going, you won't need teeth"
"Good day darling, where do you wanna head out to today?"
"oh, I was looking at this ad for a new restaurant on main named; 'Gator Tres'.
I adore her.
My friend, that is. Rosa. Just friends.
We always have the greatest time. Simple plans get laid out as soon as I arrive home from work. The usual is a trip to a restaurant for supper and an evening walk going down the river. She never complained when we walked, which is something I guess I really liked about her. and her being hispanic. I have a thing for those women. She also had very long and volumous black hair. with a very subtle wave feature that shone in daylight. and her face was very well structured, everything was complimented well. She wasn't beautiful, but she was pretty.
I got undressed from my work clothes and put on some freshly washed blue jeans shorts and a white Hanes v-neck shirt that she had bought me. I decided to put on loafers as well.
she was wearing a very silky dress that seemed a bit off, season wise. No matter. Making sure the door was locked, I closed the apartment door and walked beside her to the car.
Our ride is an '89 Volvo with areas of small cracks in the dark turquoise paint. Generally but not limited to the window areas. The cold breeze of the evening seems to peel the flakes of paint off.
I started the car as she finished buckling her seat belt. Pulling out, I noticed it looked like the weatherman on the 6'oclock news was right in his prediction that it will come a good rain tonight. Our car rides always consist of zero conversation but with the radio on. I always let her decide what to listen to. Normally the pop station that played all the hits. "So we decided Gator Tres, right?" I asked to break the silence. She took a few seconds to answer. "Yes sir. They have special now." Rosa's English wasn't the best but I understood her. "Alright dear, anything in mind? like an appetizer? or drink?" "We'll see when get there."
Pulling up, the rain began to come down from the dark sky. Not a heavy rain, but a good sprinkle. We got out and hurried into the restaurant to be greeted by the hostess. "2?" she confirmed. "Follow me this way.." We followed her and she seated us at a booth with red cushions. She left after giving us our menus and letting us know our waiter will be here shortly. Rosa thanked her and started gazing at the menu, I had begun to observe the atmosphere. There were several lamps hanging down from the ceiling and random paintings hanging on the walls. There was a lot of chatter among the crowd. Everyone seemed to be drinking wine. When the waiter appeared I realized we'd been sitting for about 10 minutes.
