Savor the Day
After that night her and Samuel became a "thing". She was head over heels for him. She never called it love, she really felt like love was unattainable for her. Their dating was never serious, they were both very busy with school work and making sure they can get the best job they could. Samuel was successful in that endeavor, Clara, however, was not successful. She went to school to become a news reporter. She has had no luck in the last few years even finding a place to start. She currently works as an office assistant in an ad firm downtown. She only keeps it because it currently pas the bills. But she always feels empty inside, like she is lacking something. That something was adventure, she would find that in Jack.
When the concert was over and everyone else had vacated their seats, Jack and Clara were still sitting in their balcony seats. Silent. Smiling. Happy. "So......where to now?" Clara inquired hesitantly.
"Hmmmm...." He had that look on his face, the look of no plan, just whims.
"Oh come on Jack, What do you have planned next?"
"Plan? Who plans things? I always say 'A man with a plan is a dull boy!'"
"Do you even know what you are doing tomorrow?"
"Not a clue!"
With that he stood up and took her hand and ran out of the Symphony Hall. Jack had no idea where they were going to go, only that he did not want to be there anymore. IT was getting kind of stale for him. When they got to the doors they stopped. Jack look Clara in the eye, there was a sense of tenderness, caring, and sense of wild abandonment of anything normal. That is what intrigued Clara about him. That was the sole reason she was giving him this chance with her. She needed something different in her life, not the same old routine every day.
Down the street was a park, that is where Jack wanted to take her. Jack was ready, after a few months, to show her a little bit about him. As the snow was still gently falling they strolled down the sidewalk. Thankfully the wind had died down so Clara would actually enjoy the walk. The streets were nearly deserted. Just a few people were still milling about from the concert. As they reached the park Jack stopped her, "Clara listen, I am about to show you something that no one else knows about me. Something I have been hiding for years. It is my secret. Can you keep my secret?"
"Sure Jack I will."
Jack led her to a nondescript bush and pulled a trowel from it's branches and started digging. After about half a foot he pulled a small box and wiped it off. On the top read two words, "My Secrets'.
